Information for Bhajan and Urumi Melam Groups
Bhajan and Urumi Melam groups need to take note of the following provisions for participation in the Panguni Uthiram procession:
THE FOLLOWING ARE THE MUSIC PROVISIONS:
PERMISSIBLE INSTRUMENTS:
- Up to 3 Indian traditional percussion instruments like Thavil, Dhol, Khol can be played.
- Up to 2 amplification devices i.e. mics and speakers are allowed for use by singers only.
- Western instruments are NOT allowed.
LIVE MUSIC:
- There will not be any live music points along the route, except inside the Temple.
- Live music can only be played from 7am to 10.30pm only. Playing of live music before 7am or after 10.30pm will be considered a breach. Musicians who breach will not be allowed to take part in the procession.
- Urumi Melam groups are NOT allowed to STOP and play enroute.
- Urumi Melam groups are allowed to play enroute only till the main entrance of the Temple. No Urumi Melam music can be played after this point.
Registration Information for Bhajan and Urumi Melam groups
- All Bhajan and Urumi Melam groups including Thavil and Nadeswaram musicians must register their group(s) online from 16 to 20 March.
